Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA)

  • Becky Johnson Community Center 412 Southwest 8th Street Redmond, OR, 97756 (map)

Understanding ICWA helps CASA volunteers better support Native children and honor their connections to family, culture, and community. This training offers an approachable overview of the law, including why it exists, how it works, and what CASA’s role looks like when ICWA applies. Volunteers will leave with a clearer sense of how to identify potential ICWA cases, communicate with caseworkers and Tribes, and advocate in ways that respect each child’s heritage and promote long‑term well‑being.
