CASA volunteers play a vital role in ensuring children in foster care have the stability, safety, and advocacy they deserve. The Family Access Network (FAN) is one of Central Oregon’s essential partners in that work by providing immediate, practical support to children and families so kids can show up to school prepared to learn and thrive.
Children in foster care often face barriers that extend far beyond the courtroom. FAN helps remove barriers by meeting basic needs quickly and compassionately.
By understanding FAN’s systems and services, CASA volunteers can:
Advocate more effectively for children’s educational stability
Support caregivers navigating poverty, housing insecurity, or crisis
Strengthen relationships with school‑based partners
Ensure children have what they need to attend school consistently and confidently
This training gives CASA volunteers a clear understanding of how FAN operates, how to collaborate with FAN Advocates, and how to leverage FAN’s services to support the children and families on their cases.
